Description: Our next pierfishing derby is Nov. 21st at Venice Pier from 9AM to 1PM to benefit UPSAC’s outreach and conservation efforts. Not only will you be helping a worthy organization, it’ll be a chance to meet your fellow pier rats and to engage in some friendly competition. There’s no food for the event so you’ll have to bring your own lunch, but we’ll have a raffle for some nice prizes. In addition, we’ll be handing out 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies to the winners. IGFA and UPSAC Announce Partnership for Annual Young Anglers Tournament Series Throughout California
Ken Jones, President of United Pier and Shore Anglers of California (UPSAC) and International Game Fish Association (IGFA) Trustee Michael Farrior have announced plans to expand on the successful “IGFA Young Anglers Tournaments” that have been held in San Diego over the past seven years. Sponsored primarily by the IGFA and the San Diego Sportfishing Council, coordinated by IGFA Representatives Catherine Miller and John Campbell, and assisted by anglers from UPSAC and other groups, the Kid’s Fishing Derby at Shelter Island—and those at several other San Diego Bay piers (and one lake)—have been an unqualified success. The Year In Review — UPSAC
As United Pier and Shore Anglers of California (UPSAC) nears the end of 2009 it may be good to review our accomplishments of the past few years as well as look forward to the plans for 2010. UPSAC efforts have primarily been involved with four types of events—grant funded projects, educational classes, advocacy for pier and shore fishing, and various Get Togethers. In addition there is the on-going project at Goleta—the Goleta Pier Angler Center. Read more…
