Co-Host of the UPSAC Kids Fishing Derbies. Day Job(s) — Educator, writer, and former business owner. Author of Pier Fishing in California 1st and 2nd Editions. Owner/operator of the Pier Fishing In California website (www.pierfishing.com) and Ken Jones Writer & Pier Fisherman blog (www.kenjonesfishing.com). He has written for many magazines including Western Saltwater Fisherman, California Angler, and California Sportsman. Day Job(s) —Broadcast industry professional for over 20 years; Currently substitute teaching and gaining his teaching credential. Born in Berkeley, CA in the year the Civil Rights Act was passed (Title VI). Angling Background & Interests — A fisherman in California for more than forty years who has enjoyed all types of saltwater fishing – surf, rock, pier, private boat and party boat. A respected Bay Area expert on the location and tactics for sturgeon, halibut, stripers, and sharks. Education — Graduated with a B.S. in Communications from San Francisco State University.
BrianLinebarger Brian Linebarger, UPSAC Position(s) — Secretary 2014-Present; Board Member 2009 to Present; North San Francisco Bay Regional Coordinator (San Rafael-Sausalito); Co-Host of the Berkeley and Marin Rod and Gun Club Kids Fishing Tournament; Co-host of UPSAC’s Annual Mud Marlin Derby held at Berkeley Pier. Day Job(s) — Retired Real Estate Broker. Angling Background & Interests — A lifelong fisherman and resident of the San Francisco Bay Area. His passion for saltwater fishing includes all types and species from perch to sharks. No matter if it is from a pier, rocks, shore, beach, or boat, he is always ready to wet a line. Involvement in Fishery Issues —Brian is an avid conservationist, and works to conserve his cherished fishing areas and the fish that reside there. He served on the Stakeholder Advisory Group (SAG) for the San Francisco Bay Fish Project and was a key member in developing the signs and posters used to warn anglers about eating contaminated fish from San Francisco Bay. Other Interests —Brian also enjoys herpetology and has many pet reptiles.
PatricaJones Patricia Jones, UPSAC Position(s) — Treasurer; Board Member 2015-Present. Day Job(s) — Retired business owner. Worked at a number of jobs over the years including work at a parachute factory, working on the Apollo spacecraft at Ryan Aeronautical, time as a youth counselor, and, most important, being a homemaker while raising two children. Angling Background & Interests — Out of necessity has become a pier angler while accompanying her husband, “The Pier Fisherman,” on his pier-hopping adventures up and down the state. HashemNahid Hashem Nahid, UPSAC Position(s) — Board Member 2008-Present; Southern California Regional Coordinator; Southern California Coordinator and Installer for the UPSAC Line Recycle Bins Project; Organizer of fishing seminars at several different piers and Co-Host of seminars at Bolsa Chica State Beach; Primary organizer for the Charthouse and Catalina Get Togethers (2008-2012); Primary organizer for the UPSAC Booth at the Fred Hall Fishing Show (2008-2010); Host of a Coastal Cleanup Day at the Kings Harbor Jetty. UPSAC Coordinator for the IGFA Shelter Island Young Anglers Tournament. Host for a lobster fishing seminar in Los Angeles. Day Job(s) — Retired contractor. After working as a licensed (professional) auto mechanic, and later as an Assistance Service Manager for a Toyota Dealership in San Diego, he moved to Los Angeles in 1979 at which point he became mechanical operations manager for two office buildings. In 1985 he received his General Contractor’s license from the State of California and few years later his Electrical Contractor’s License. Angling Background & Interests — A fisherman in California for more than forty years who has enjoyed all types of saltwater fishing—surf, rock, pier, private boat, kayak, party boat and diving. He has fished in a number of countries and continents including the Caspian Sea, Persian Gulf (in Iran), Strait of Bosphorus, Mediterranean Sea (in Turkey), Baja California, Mexico, and Alaska. Involvement in Fishery Issues — Volunteer with the White Seabass Growout Program with Marina Del Rey Anglers. Education — Graduated with a B.A. from San Diego State University.
